Logos

Download Logo

When you think about any company, the logo is one of the first things to come to mind. Logos symbolize entire organizations. It’s crucial that the latest version of the U of S logo is used consistently and correctly to maximize its impact.

The logo guidelines below must be followed by all university personnel and are governed by the U of S Policy on Commercial and Non-Commercial Use of the University Trademark (4.04.01/4.04.02).

Approved versions

To maintain consistent presentation, the official University of Saskatchewan logo must contain both the heraldic crest and the University of Saskatchewan wordmark. Use of the crest without the wordmark is prohibited.

Approved usage

Oversize / large scale version
To take advantage of oversize placements of the U of S logo, there is a more detailed version of the crest. This version includes detailed wheat sheaves and etching in the book of knowledge with the Latin phrase Deo et Patrie (For God and Country). This oversize version is available in all colour versions. Use this version when the height of the crest equals or exceeds 0.75” (1.9cm).

Minimum size
To preserve the legibility of the U of S logo, it must never be reproduced smaller than 0.125” (0.32cm) in height. Always ensure that the legibility is maintained for all elements.

Protected space
To ensure that the U of S logo is not confused with other logos or identifiers, and that it maintains the greatest visual effect, it must be surrounded by a buffer zone of clear space. This space should be equal to or greater than the height of one wheat sheaf within the heraldic shield.

Don't change the logo

Consistent use strengthens the U of S logo:

  • Don’t use old versions.
  • Don’t separate the crest from the wordmark.
  • Don’t change the colour of elements.
  • Don’t violate the protected space.
  • Don’t place on a busy background.
  • Don’t use low quality versions.
  • Don’t condense, expand or distort.
  • Don’t change font.
  • Don’t place at an angle.
  • Don’t add drop shadows or other graphic effects.

College/school logos

Individual colleges and schools at the University of Saskatchewan may use a variation of the University logo on promotional materials specific to the college or school.

The approved logo for colleges and schools consists of a graphic containing the University of Saskatchewan official logo adorned with a line below the bottom of the heraldic shield. The name of the college or school is typeset below this line. The name of the college or school should not extend past the right edge of the University of Saskatchewan words, and may be split between lines to accommodate for space constraints. The colour of the college or school text must be reproduced in the same colour of the words University of Saskatchewan. Combined logos are available through University Communications.

Administrative unit logos

Individual administrative units at the University of Saskatchewan may use a variation of the university logo on promotional materials specific to the unit. Use of administrative unit logos must receive special permission through application to University Communications. Requests will be forwarded to the President’s Executive Council for approval. Logos that have not been approved through this process cannot be used on University materials of any kind. Approved administrative unit logos will be provided through University Communications.

Administrative Unit Logos are not to be used on stationary.

Individual academic departments are not eligible for combined logos, but may use the University of Saskatchewan logo alone or the combined college logo option.

University-approved centres, institutes or groups may also use a variation of the university logo on promotional materials specific to the unit. Use of combined logos for university-approved centres or institutes or groups must receive special permission through application to University Communications. Requests will be forwarded to the President’s Executive Council for approval. Logos that have not been approved through this process cannot be used on university materials of any kind.
